Struggling to get people to listen to your music? Wish there were things you could do to faster build up your fanbase and start earning more from your music?
Believe me, I've been there!
After years of making music and building up my talent, I was at a stage where I was ready to have a wider audience hearing my material.
So I put my songs on social media.
I approached venues for gigs.
I gave my music out for free.
And what happened?
Crickets!!! Literally nothing.
All those things that people were telling me to do weren't having any impact on my music career. I still had a relatively small fanbase. I still wasn't getting any big media channels picking me up (or even small ones for that matter). And I was still losing more money than I was spending on my music.
SOMETHING HAD TO CHANGE!
So I switched tactics. And instead of listening to the regular bloggers telling me how to forward my music career, I done a combination of two things:
1: I learned how promotion really works from proven internet marketers with successful businesses.
2: I started focusing on creating a valuable experience for both fans and those in the music industry I wanted to connect with.
While this was a gradual process, things soon started turning around for me.
Learning how to better communicate with industry figures allowed me to:
Get on 18 radio stations live & have songs played on many more.
Profitably tour the UK.
Get in multiple print publications.
Be shortlisted from thousands of musicians for 'The Best National Unsigned Act' at the Urban Music Awards (which I narrowly missed out on to super group JLS).
Created products that my fans really enjoyed and were willing to pay me for.
And a lot more!
Most importantly, it allowed me more stability, and to make a consistent profit from my music career.
Unfortunately, since then I've had to stop making music due to a really bad case of tinnitus.
Before I fell unwell with tinnitus though, I had documented what I'd done in music and how I achieved each of these things. Good thing too, as every week I get musicians asking how they can do the same in their music career.
So over time I took all the knowledge I'd gained, and put it on this site so others could learn how to do similar things. This packaged system soon became known as The IMA Music Business Academy!
Over the years other musicians have also contributed to The Academy, making it the ultimate blueprint for what's been working across the music industry.
Today the knowledge from The Academy has helped hundreds of musicians get more fans and earn more money from their music. What's more, it can help you do the same.
