Vocal Remover And Isolation
Vocal Remover And Isolation (or vocalremover.org) feature several handy tools for people who might be looking for a vocal remover – a karaoke tool (for recording your voice over a song), recorder, audio track joiner, audio cutter, song key and BPM finder, audio speed and pitch changer, and a splitter.
Their vocal remover tool is a free tool for removing vocals from any song, especially for karaoke applications.
The remover will create two tracks for you – the karaoke version and an a cappella version with isolated vocals. It promises to be able to do this in about 10 seconds after uploading is complete.
Having tried this tool, I can attest to the fact that it does a good job of removing vocals, especially standalone vocal tracks that don’t feature doubling or harmonies.
In choruses and bridges, I could still hear some of the backing vocals, but that’s not a bad thing, especially if you plan to use the track for karaoke (many karaoke tracks leave the backing harmonies in).
Overall, Vocal Remover And Isolation is very easy to use and it features a simple but attractive interface too. As a bonus, the vocal removers will detect the key signature and BMP of the song for you.
Tunebat Vocal Remover Online
Tunebat Vocal Remover Online is another AI-powered vocal remover tool that can also remove bass, drums, and other tracks, depending on your needs. It’s the perfect tool for creating karaoke tracks, samples, stems, and more.
To get started with Tunebat, you’ll need to upload your file, wait for processing, preview the results, and when ready, download your tracks.
Tunebat is a Cloud-based solution that utilizes both AI and machine learning to deliver high-quality files you can use in your projects. You will need to pay for a Pro plan if you want access to high-bitrate formats though.
To take advantage of Tunebat Vocal Remover Online for free, you will need to upload a file that’s smaller than 30 MB, which is a bit of a nuisance if all you have is a WAV file on hand, but otherwise not a big deal (it should be more than enough for a three-minute song in MP3).
Additionally, if you are using the tool for free, you may need to wait in a queue to take advantage of the service. So, there are several downsides if you are not on a Pro plan.
The vocal removal process also took quite a while. Although it did work relatively well, I could faintly hear the main vocal parts in the song. Harmonies and backing vocal parts generally remain, though for karaoke that should not prove problematic at all.
Conveniently, Tunebat did provide me with an isolated vocal track as well as the instrumental track (karaoke version) for good measure.
Another downside of the Tunebat website, though, is that it’s littered with ads. We know monetization is important, but it gives the site a bit of a cheap feel and it sacrifices user experience.
LALAL.AI Vocal Remover & Instrument AI Splitter
The incredibly hard-to-read LALAL.AI Vocal Remover & Instrument AI Splitter is an AI-powered vocal or accompaniment remover.
The app is available for download on the App Store and Google Play, and Mac and Windows versions are also available. Thankfully, you can also take advantage of the technology directly on the website.
LALAL.AI claims to be able to remove and separate just about anything from anything – vocals, drums, bass, piano, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, synthesizer, and more, without a degradation in quality.
While LALAL.AI is technically a paid service, it will at least offer a preview of vocal and instrumental track separation before you invest in their platform.
It does the job it promises, and it even appears to remove backing harmonies. Many mixes still feature a bit of a “vocal well,” however, and when you remove the vocals, it can sometimes do strange things to the instruments. This is somewhat inevitable, no matter the remover tool.
But otherwise, LALAL.AI is quite good. If you think it might be for you, then you’ll want to explore one of their paid plans. For individuals, they’ve got the following:
- Lite pack: $15 one-time fee. Gives you 90 minutes of processing, with a 2 GB upload file size limit per file.
- Pro pack: $35 one-time fee. Gives you 500 minutes of processing, with a 2 GB upload file size limit per file.
- Plus pack: $25 one-time fee. Gives you 300 minutes of processing, with a 2 GB upload file size limit per file.
They’ve also got the following for business plans:
- Master: $50 one-time fee. Gives you 750 minutes of processing, with a 2 GB upload file size limit per file.
- Premium: $190 one-time fee. Gives you 3,000 minutes of processing, with a 2 GB upload file size limit per file.
- Enterprise: $300 one-time fee. Gives you 5,000 minutes of processing, with a 2 GB upload file size limit per file.
PhonicMind AI Vocal Remover
PhonicMind AI Vocal Remover proudly calls its tool the best online vocal remover of 2023. Of course, that’s up to you to decide.
The AI Vocal Remover can extract vocals, bass, drums, and other instruments, and just as its name would suggest, it’s AI-powered. Whether you’re looking to create karaoke tracks, a cappella versions, or otherwise, there are many ways to take advantage of PhonicMind’s convenient tool.
PhonicMind allows you to upload MP3, WAV, AAC, WMA, FLAC, and AIFF files up to 100 MB.
Uploading your file with PhonicMind can take a minute or two, but it’s not too bad. After your file has been uploaded, the vocal remover will go to work to isolate your tracks and prepare a free sample.
This can take another minute or two, so our suggestion would be to step away from your computer to make tea or go to the bathroom.
By default, the vocal remover will separate your track by vocals, drums, bass, and others. You can mix certain sounds in while dialing out others, which is a nice feature.
As with some of the other tools explored, their vocal remover will leave traces of vocal tracks (especially backing harmonies) in the mix. Not too bad for karaoke, though.
PhonicMind isn’t free, so after you’ve tested it out, you will be prompted to pay per song or purchase a plan.
You can pay $3.99 for one song, purchase 10 songs for $1.99 apiece, or opt for 50 songs at $1.19 each.
But if you’re thinking you would like to take advantage of unlimited uploads and conversions, then you will want to sign up for one of their paid plans:
- Basic: $9.99 per month. In addition to unlimited uploads and conversions, this plan gives you a processing speed of 10 minutes per song. You can download tracks in MP3 format only.
- Pro: $14.99 per month. In addition to unlimited uploads and conversions, this plan gives you a processing speed of 10 minutes per song. You can download tracks in MP3, FLAC, ZIP, or STEM.MP4.
Vocals Remover
Vocals Remover may well be one of the simplest AI-powered options of the bunch. Their website exists to remove vocals from songs, and besides a little bit of information on the same topic, we’re not sure it serves any other purpose!
Land on the website, and instantly you are prompted to upload a song to remove vocals. The description on the site says you can process up to two MP3s or WAV files per day for free, with up to 10 minutes and 80 MB per file.
Uploading and processing will take a couple of minutes, but all told it’s very quick!
Unlike most other vocal removers, you are not presented with an audio player on the website. Rather you are required to download the track you had the AI process.
While the tool does a decent job of removing the main vocals in a track (they’re still somewhat audible), there is a noticeable change in the quality and even some distortion in the sections where the vocals have been removed.
So, this is not the best tool available, and it’s not even the best free tool available. But it’s still nice to know it exists.
If you like the service, which utilizes an opensource library, you can donate to it to help support the project. And who knows? Maybe they’ll keep improving the tool too.
Notta Free Online Vocal Remover
Notta Free Online Vocal Remover is another straightforward, free AI-powered vocal remover.
Notta’s vocal remover will accept MP3, AAC, AIFF, WAV, M4A, MP4, AVI, FLV, MOV, and even WMV files, depending on what you have on hand.
The process is simple. You can upload your audio or video file, the AI algorithm will go to work to separate the vocal and instrumental tracks, and Notta provides you with the option of downloading an MP3 of the processed file.
The first time we tried to use Notta, it didn’t work. We couldn’t upload a file to have it processed (clicking on the “Upload” button did nothing). But we tried again, and the second time was the charm.
Uploading was quick, while processing was another matter entirely. There was an onscreen message telling us that the service was busy and that we’d need to wait. Once processing was underway, however, there wasn’t much of a wait.
After was complete, I was provided with two audio players – one for the instrumental, and one for the vocals. I was also given download links for each (with a convenient “Download All” option).
It did a decent job of removing the vocals but a very distorted version of the vocals was faintly audible. For casual karaoke, it will do the trick, but for other uses, it might disappoint. Hey, at least it’s free.
Their vocal remover tool is more like a bonus than a mainstay, however, as Notta is primarily a call recording, transcription, and translation service. If you’re curious, you’re certainly welcome to check out their other tools.
x-minus.pro Vocal Remover
x-minus.pro Vocal Remover is a free AI-powered online application for removing vocals from a song. It can be used for creating a cappella versions of tracks as well as karaoke tracks.
There is a premium version of the Vocal Remover, however, and with it you can split any song into four stems – vocals, bass, drums, and other instruments (like some of the other tools introduced in this guide).
Something that’s relatively unique to x-minus.pro is the fact that you can choose what you’d like to do with the background vocals – remove or keep. In our experience, it didn’t work as expected, but other vocal removal tools should learn from this feature, as it’s something plenty of users would love to have.
Uploading and processing tracks is quite fast, and x-minus.pro does provide you with audio players for hearing the results as well.
The tool does a great job of removing the vocals but there is an audible distortion in sections where the vocals have been removed. Overall, it still does a solid job.
MyEdit Free Vocal Remover
MyEdit Free Vocal Remover is another straightforward free AI tool for removing vocals from songs and creating karaoke tracks.
MyEdit lets you upload MP3s, WAVs, FLACs, and M4As with a maximum duration of 10 minutes and a maximum file size of 100 MB.
Uploading and processing files with MyEdit is quite quick. Once done, it will provide you with an audio player, with a play button, a stop button, and an Adjusted or Original toggle. It also gives you a vocal volume and pitch slider.
Processed files can easily be downloaded as MP3 or WAV files.
MyEdit does an okay job of removing vocals. You can still hear traces of lead and backing vocal tracks, however, and there is quite a bit of distortion in sections where the vocals have been removed.
For those who are interested, MyEdit offers other audio and image tools, many of them AI-powered. Explore on your own time if this sounds interesting to you.
Audioalter Vocal Remover
Audioalter Vocal Remover is yet another simple vocal removal tool that accepts MP3, FLAC, OGG, and WAV files of up to 50 MB.
As Audioalter says, you can use the tool to create karaoke versions of songs, but results will vary. They do say their processing conflicts with mono songs, songs where the vocals aren’t centered in the mix, or songs with poor-quality audio.
Audioalter says their vocal remover takes advantage of Out Of Phase Stereo (OOPS) to remove vocals. This technology banks on the idea that vocals are always centered in the mix while instruments are panned (even if slightly) to the left and right channels.
Though it will probably work on certain types of tracks, it sounds like it could be a disaster for others.
Of course, as with all vocal removers showcased in this guide, we gave this one a try too.
Uploading and processing didn’t take too long. Audioalter does not provide you with an audio player, so the only thing you can do with a track that’s been processed is download it.
The result was a track that sounded more distorted out of the gate (the guitar sounded like it went up in the mix). The vocals were noticeably quieter but still present. The backing harmonies stayed in the song. The guitar solo (presumably because it was centered in the mix) also got quieter.
It’s not an awful tool, but even for free, you can find better options.
Even if you don’t like their vocal remover, though, Audioalter might be worth adding to your bookmarks. Their site is home to a huge array of tools, including:
3D audio, auto panner, bass booster, equalizer, noise reducer, pitch shifter, reverb, reverse audio, stereo panner, tempo changer, trimmer / cutter, volume changer, BMP detector, converter, downmixer, spectrogram image, and waveform image tools.
Media.io Vocal Remover
The Media.io Vocal Remover is an AI-powered tool for creating vocal tracks, accompaniment, or instrumental tracks for karaoke and more.
Media.io promises fast processing, well-trained AI, high-quality output, and versatility. They also support multiple audio and video file types, like MP3, OGG, M4A, WAV, MP4, MOV, and MKV.
They also say their tool allows you to extract vocals, remix songs, visualize the music, change the pitch, and even find the BPM.
When uploading a new file, Vocal Remover asks you whether you want to separate the track by vocals and instrumentals, or with and without drums. Handy!
Uploading was near instantaneous, though processing took a little longer.
Once the separation was complete, Media.io provided me with audio players for the original track, the backing track, and the vocals. They also offered me a convenient download button to grab the files.
At the outset, the instrumentals sounded very natural. It’s nice to know the processing doesn’t touch the instruments. Still, the absence of vocals left subtle traces of audible artifacts, somewhat distorted too.
Overall, the tool does a decent enough job and will come in handy for quick and dirty karaoke tracks. It doesn’t hurt that their website is nicely designed.
Media.io’s Vocal Remover is free to try but is ultimately a paid service. Their plans break down as follows:
- Free Account: Gives you access to all features, unlimited previews, and one free download.
- Monthly Plan: $9.99 for an hour of audio, $19.99 for four hours, $49.99 for 10 hours, $79.99 for 20 hours, and $129.99 for 40 hours.
- Pay As You Go: $19.99 for an hour of audio, $29.99 for four hours, $69.99 for 10 hours, $109.99 for 20 hours, and $179.99 for 40 hours.
EaseUS Vocal Remover
EaseUS Vocal Remover is an AI-powered vocal remover for creating karaoke, background, a cappella, or instrument tracks.
EaseUS’ Vocal Remover promises to offer high-quality audio, ultra-fast removal / separation, and built-in audio players for previewing tracks. They accept a variety of file types, including MP3, AAC, AIFF, WAV, M4A, and FLAC, among others.
As you get started, EaseUS will ask you whether you want separate vocal and music tracks, separate drums, separate bass, or separate voice and noise. The only available option currently, though, is vocal and music (stay tuned for additional features).
EaseUs gives you a maximum file duration of 20 minutes and a file size of 350 MB to start things off. Quite generous.
Uploading the file didn’t take too long, and processing was also quite quick. As promised, I was presented with three audio players for the original track, the music track, and the vocal track, along with a handy “Download All” option.
As I began listening, I noticed the processing did not alter the instruments, so that’s a plus. As with many vocal removers, though, it left noticeable artifacts in sections where vocals originally existed, with some distortion too. Backing harmonies effectively remained intact.
There may be other reasons to check out EaseUS, though. They have one of the most nicely designed vocal remover websites of any we’ve looked at, and they are home to an array of other video and audio tools, like:
A video toolkit, video editing software, screen recorder, video downloader, real-time voice changer, and a tool for recording and converting audio.
VocalRemover
Not to be confused with the legion of other tools of the same name, VocalRemover claims to offer lossless sound quality and fast conversion. The AI-powered processor can separate vocals from instrumentals, but it can also separate drums, bass, piano, DJ mixes, and more.
VocalRemover accepts MP3, WAV, FLAC, OGG, OPUS, SPHERE, MKV, AVI, MOV, and AAC files.
The uploading and processing were quite quick. The processing, specifically, only took about 20 seconds.
Once complete, VocalRemover provided me with audio players for the vocals, instrumentals, bass, drums, and others, along with a download button for each.
The instrumental track worked out quite nicely. There were some artifacts, as expected, but they interfered less with the track compared to some other vocal removers.
If you’re interested in checking out VocalRemover, you can try it out for yourself, or sign up for one of their plans (prices are in EUR).
- Small: 30-minute package for €4.99 per month. Gives you a priority queue.
- Premium: 90-minute package for €9.99 per month. Gives you a priority queue and video file uploads (100 MB+).
- Professional: 600-minute package for €59.99 per month. Gives you a priority queue, video file uploads (100 MB+), and API access.
VocalRemover also has pay-as-you-go options for 20 minutes, 60 minutes, and 500 minutes.
Moises Vocal Remover
The Moises Vocal Remover app is available for desktops, as well as on the App Store and Google Play. Their AI can separate vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and other instruments.
All you need to do to get started is upload your song, choose how you want the stems to be separated, and you can even edit and remix the audio to suit your tastes.
The Moises App comes with other excellent features like a pitch changer, speed changer, and chord detection functionality.
Moises lets you upload MP3, FLAC, M4A, WAV, MP4, MOV, and WMA files. The uploading process was very fast, and the processing was quick too.
Once done, I was presented with an audio player with mute, solo, volume, and panning controls for vocals, drums, bass, other, and a smart metronome. It also showed me the tempo and key signature of the song.
The vocal remover worked very nicely in the verse. The absence of vocals did affect the track, but not as much as most other vocal removers we’ve tried.
The panning function worked perfectly. The Lyrics function offered very accurate lyrics to the song. The Chords function did let me view a couple of chords from the song, though it was a broad-stroke, simplified version of the chords (some of this functionality is in Beta though).
Overall, Moises is a very promising app and one worth checking out, especially if you want to do more than just remove vocals from a song and have full editing capabilities.
Moises has three plans, which are as follows:
- Starter: $0. Gives you five AI audio separations per month, with metronome, speed changer, key detection, and chord detection.
- Musician: $3.33 per month paid annually. Gives you unlimited AI separations, up to five-track isolation, fully unlocked practicing tools, fully unlocked lyrics transcription, and WAV file export.
- Producer: $12.49 per month paid annually. In addition to everything included with the Musician package, it also gives you access to Hi-Fi audio separation models, voice studio, mastering, lyric writer, and when they become available, all VST plugins and embeddable player.
Conversion-Tool.com Voice Separator
Conversion-Tool.com is just as it sounds – a tool for converting an array of file types – documents, eBooks, images, PDFs, and more. Their website is elementary and full of ads.
Their Voice Separator tool can be used to extract vocals, piano, bass, drums, and other instruments using AI. They warn us in advance the processing can take a while.
Having uploaded your song, you can choose to output your file to MP3, WAV, or FLAC. You can also choose from the following output methods:
- Voice / instruments
- Voice / drums / bass / other instruments
- Voice / drums / bass / piano / other instruments
While they did warn us that the uploading and conversion could take a while, it was done relatively quickly. Conversion-Tool.com does not have a built-in audio player, so you will need to download the files to hear the results.
The vocal removal process isn’t the smoothest we’ve heard. The process leaves plenty of audible artifacts and distortion. For a karaoke track, it might be good enough though.
Top Vocal Removers, Final Thoughts
Even though vocal removers do exist, and they are quite handy, the best method to remove vocals from a track is to have access to the original stems. And depending on the song or artist, you can sometimes find said stems!
But in instances where you have no other choice, vocal removers are getting quite good, and who knows? They might get even better.
