Tina Turner Dies, 105k+ Fans Pay Tribute
The music world was shaken to its core on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, when Tina Turner was pronounced dead. While a definitive cause for her death has not been given, she did live to be 83 years old.
Tina Turner was a true entertainer in every sense of the word. She was also a survivor, overcoming many personal struggles that include marital abuse, and later, health issues.
Within 24 hours, over 105,000 fans flooded online to pay their tributes.
Many showed their sadness for Tina's passing.
Some used lines from another Whitney Houston, another fallen pop queen.
Others simply had no words.
All couldn't believe this legendary singer had passed.
Tina will go down in the history books as somebody who was electrifying to watch on the stage. Even at the age of 40, she was dancing around in high heels with energy only James Brown could match.
Tina’s career started as a young teenager after meeting Ike Turner and seeing him perform. The two would eventually get married and tour together as a husband-wife duo.
It’s become well-documented since then that Tina Turner underwent an extreme amount of physical abuse from Ike. Details came to public knowledge through her biography and the film, What’s Love Got To Do With It.
And even though she established her career with Ike, she proved that she was more than fine on her own. In fact, if she hadn’t gone on her own, she would never have become the gigantic star she would become.
The 1980s saw Tina return to the spotlight, but this time, which a tenacious ferocity that couldn’t be stopped. In her mid-40s at the time, Tina provided an example to show that age would not hold her back.
Some of Tina’s biggest hits include The Best, Private Dancer, and What’s Love Got To Do With It. She even found her way to Hollywood’s big screen, playing a prominent role in Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome.
Tina continued to be in the limelight throughout the 1990s and 2000s, officially retiring as a performer in 2009. Along the way, she has become one of the best-selling artists in the history of recorded music.
Not only that, but she was a massive source of inspiration for all women everywhere. Many of the greatest women singers have all been influenced by Tina Turner’s voice and performance style.
In recent years, Tina made public via her book the fact that she had been suffering from a variety of different illnesses. Within the span of 10 years, she suffered a stroke, was diagnosed with intestinal cancer, and had a kidney transplant.
There is always a bit of a vacuum left behind when one of music’s biggest stars passes away. The memory of Tina’s meteoric career will be forever remembered as her music continues to live on.
