Hello there! My name’s Shaun Letang, and I’m the owner of Music Industry How To; a website dedicated to helping it’s members learn the music business and get to where they want to be! Whether you’re a singer, music manager, rapper, record label owner, producer, or anyone else who works in the music industry, I can help you do more.
My promise to you: Through this site I will greatly shorten the time it takes you to start seeing success in the music industry. Forget spending years trying to learn everything through trial and error, through my easy to understand guides and advice you will gain the knowledge needed to do more with your music. Whether it’s your aim to get more fans, make more money, or generally build up your music business knowledge, I can help you.
Now let’s look at how I will do this, and also what you need to bring to the table to make your success a reality. Be sure to read to the end for all the information.
What It Take To Succeed In The Music Industry
“Success means different things to different people, but once you hit your own personal goals, that is success”
Now don’t get me wrong, succeeding in the music industry isn’t easy. You’ll be competing with thousands and thousands of other musicians in your genre, not to mention all the other musicians in other genres! That said, it’s my aim to give you a better chance than at least 97% of those other musicians. I’ll do that by teaching you all about these two key things:
1. How to effectively promote your music.
Marketing is the process of raising awareness of your music, and making people want to hear and buy it. Without marketing your music, you won’t get any fans, and you won’t make any money. It’s as simple as that.
Schools don’t generally teach you how to be good at marketing (let alone marketing specific to the music industry), so unless you’ve taken a marketing specific course in higher education, chances are this side of things will be new to you.
With my easy to understand guides though, I make this side of things easy to follow and fun to implement. Learn how to do what the record labels do on a scale suitable to you!
2. The right mentality needed to reach your aims.
Other than not marketing themselves and a lack of talent (which anyone can get over with enough practice and hard work), one of the biggest reasons musicians don’t get where they want to be is because they don’t have the right mentality. This could be in terms of:
- Not having the drive to put in work.
- Not approaching things professionally enough.
- Not being willing to invest in things that will make you more money from music in the long run.
- Being attracted to the wrong kind of ‘opportunities’.
- Not knowing when to stop doing something that’s not working.
- And the like.
All of the above things can hinder your music career, and set you back years in terms of getting to where you want to be. In the guides I provide through this site, I help you to tackle all of these mental issues and more.
I’ll Also Teach You
On top of the two above areas, I’ll help you learn the business side of music (very important), copyrighting, performing at gigs, getting gigs, effective networking, producing music, branding, getting started with certain new instruments, music videos, royalties, making money and much more.
What You Need To Bring To The Table
While I can help you with the above extremely important areas, it’s also important that you work on building your talent up the whole time. After all, the last things you’re going to want to do is promote yourself when you’re not yet good enough to be launched into the public spotlight. I can give you the knowledge needed to get your music out there, but you have to be ready to give the people music they want to listen to!

One Last Word From Shaun
As I said, it’s my aim to give you a better chance of succeeding in the music industry than 97% of the other musicians out there. I can give you the knowledge successful musicians and record labels have been using for years to get more sales and fans, but it’s up to you to implement this knowledge.
If you’re ready and prepared to read through the guides, as well as putting them into practice, then I look forward to having you as a full member to this site. We’ll speak again soon.
